priority as well as press releases in the community billboard
in the
leading newspapers in the city.
e. Participating in activities in the mall is also a good
venue for
people to find out that a scholarship program for indigent
children is
offered by the center.
2. Registration of applicants for scholarship at the
center.
The parents of the applicants taken during the campaign
are
asked to fill-up the Application form. This would state
the personal data
of the applicant. Requirements like birth certificate
and Income Tax
Return (ITR) must be furnished.
Majority of the applicants are referred by Dr. Jacqueline
Espina.
They are asked to go to the center to apply for scholarship.

the qualifications then they are given the application
form to fill-up.

is indeed

Names of the applicants who have passed the final screening
are submitted to the Funding Agency.

A) Are there any major risks of which you are aware
that could affect the successful implementation
of the project?
The scholars are also given transportation allowance
so they can come to the center. If by any chance
the scholar cannot come to the center, this scholar
is given a HOME PROGRAM wherein the teacher goes
to the scholar’s residence to give the services
that he/she must avail of.
B) Other features of the project which you consider
important.
The Scholarship Grant is one of the Community Outreach
Program of the Center. Parents and caregivers are
also part of the curriculum so they also attend
the sessions together with their child/ward. Training
and counseling services are also provided to low
income families so that they will learn how to manage
their child with autism.
Beneficiaries and Participants:
• Who will benefit from
the project and how will these benefits be realized? (total
number of recipients and number of women/children). Indicate
direct/indirect
beneficiaries.
The scholars who come from indigent families will be the
primary
beneficiaries. These children with autism will be given
therapy, training,
transportation allowance and educational materials. They
will be provided with
the best service that the Center has to offer.
The caregivers and parents will be benefited too. Trainings
and seminars
scheduled monthly aims to educate those involved with
the care of the child to
provide proper after school care. Parents and Caregiver’s
Orientation;
Management of Autism; Sensory Integration; First Aid for
Children; Speech
Therapy and Social Skills are just some of the topics
discussed
At the moment the Scholarship Program can only afford
to give grants to ten (10) scholars per year. There is
a long list of children with Autism from indigent families
who need to be cared and educated. Although the Center
has the capability to help, it lacks funds to sustain
the project and a great number of qualified scholars are
placed on the Waiting List due to financial problems.
There is also a need to open an adolescent program because
a lot of children who are qualified for the scholarship
belong to this age bracket. In line with this the Reach
Center has developed a curriculum which in time will be
ready for implementation when the resources would be ready.
